CREATIVE WORK

Welcome to Creative Work- a collection of writing, events and creative projects that sit alongside the Mayajoy brand.

As a designer, writer and storyteller, I a, fascinated by the connection between colour, food, home and the rituals that bring meaning to everyday life. Through published articles, demonstrations, educational collaborations and creative projects, I explore the ideas that inspire my work and shape the world of Mayajoy.

Whether sharing recipes, discussing the power of colour, reflecting on culture and identity or encouraging more intentional living, this work is united by a simple belief: that joy can be found in the ordinary moments we choose to celebrate.

Thank you for reading and for being part of the journey.

Lots of love,

Maya x

Featured Writing

A collection of published articles and essays exploring colour, home, food, culture and joyful living.

Mummy blog, published - 2016

My writing journey started at the age of 17, when I used to write ads for travel guides. It was a great little money earner, before heading off to University. I never knew that writing would become part of my journey. After the birth of my first child, I launched a mummy blog called 'The Sailor, Princess and I- the first article was quickly published in 'Just for Families'.

Events & Collaborations

Bringing ideas to life, through demonstrations, partnerships and creative experiences.

Flavour Fest, Plymouth - 2026

I was delighted to deliver a live food demonstration, alongside chef Peter Gorton, as part of Flavour Fest, South West- celebrating colour, flavour and British veg. Drawing on my love of food, storytelling and hosting, the session explored an elevated lunch, accessible even to the self professed β€˜non cooks’, showcasing the humble Cauliflower, with a kick.

The demonstration formed part of Mayajoy’s wider mission to encourage slower living, meaningful connection and finding joy in everyday moments.

Plymouth University, Marketing - 2025/26

Mayajoy was invited to participate as a live business case study for marketing students at Plymouth University.

Across two modules, students analysed the brand’s positioning, customer profile and future opportunities, conducting market research and consumer surveys before developing new product concepts, inspired by the Mayajoy ethos. The project culminated in a series of creative proposals, exploring how the brand could evolve and connect with new audiences. the image to the left is the creative concept from group C, year 2 Marketing students at Plymouth University. There were other great ideas such as picnic baskets, zero waste patchwork, bedding and crockery.

It was a privilege to see Mayajoy examined through fresh eyes and to support the next generation of marketers as they applied their learning to a real-world business challenge.
